    Mark Messmer serves as the U.S. Representative for Indiana’s 8th congressional district.

    He currently serves as a member on the Senate committees on Agriculture; Commerce and Technology; Homeland Security and Transportation; Natural Resources; Utilities; and Veterans Affairs and The Military.

    While serving in the Indiana Senate, Byrne has been named State Senator of the Year by Indiana Aviation (2023) and Champion for Life by Indiana Right to Life (2022). He was also recognized at the 50-year Celebration for Southern Indiana Right to Life (2023).

    Byrne is the co-owner and president of Byrne Satellite in Byrneville, as well as a member of Indiana Farm Bureau and a life member of the National Rifle Association.

    He served as the North Harrison Cal Ripken Baseball Board President from 1997 to 2004 and a member of the North Harrison School Board, 2006-2010 and 2012-2016; Alternative School Board, 2010 and 2015-2016; Lifelong Learning Board, 2012-2016; Harrison County Economic Development Board, 2016-2020; and Harrison County Council, 2016-2020. He also coached boys’ baseball and basketball for 10 years.

    Byrne and his wife, Angie, reside on their family farm and are proud parents and grandparents.
