Senator Shelly V. Calvo is the Majority Whip of the 38th Guam Legislature and the Chairperson of the Committee on Child Welfare, Youth Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women’s Affairs, Disability Services, the Arts, Culture, Historic Preservation & Hagåtña Restoration, and Co-Vice Chairperson for the Committee on Transportation, Tourism, Customs, Utilities & Federal and Foreign Affairs.

With over 34 years of professional and business experience in the Philippines, Guam and California working in multinational companies in Silicon Valley, Senator Calvo has also received several accolades for her philanthropy and community leadership, serving as board director for Guam Visitors Bureau and the Hagåtña Revitalization and Redevelopment Authority, and in numerous leadership capacities in civic and non-profit organizations such as the Guam Homeless Coalition, Lions Club International, Salvation Army, and the Filipino Community of Guam.

A lifelong artist and prolific writer, Senator Calvo is a published author and has contributed as a columnist for 17 years.

Senator Calvo is the first Filipino-American from Guam to be recommended for appointment as United States Ambassador to the Philippines.
