Joseph Underwood is a Republican politician from Maine, who serves as the state representative for District 5. He was elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 2022, defeating incumbent Democrat David McCrea in the general election. He is a member of the State and Local Government Committee.

Underwood is a retired firefighter and paramedic who worked for the Caribou Fire & Ambulance Department. He lives in Presque Isle, Maine, with his fiancée, who is also an EMT. He has five children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
