Steve Gander is a member of the Republican Party and currently serves in the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 1B. He assumed office on January 14, 2025, and his current term will conclude on January 12, 2027.

Steve Gander was born on August 27, 1961, in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. He graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School before pursuing higher education at the University of North Dakota. He later earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1987. Before joining the Minnesota House of Representatives, Gander served as the mayor of East Grand Forks from January 2017 until January 2025.
