Linda Carter, a lifelong resident of the City of Plainfield, has dedicated her entire career to fighting for underprivileged and middle-class communities. Her commitment to public service spans nearly two decades, during which she has held various roles.

Local Service:

• Linda served as a member of the Plainfield City Council, where she actively addressed community needs and advocated for positive change.
• She also contributed as a member of the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, earning a reputation as a bold progressive and pragmatic trailblazer.

State Legislature:

• On May 24, 2018, Linda Carter was appointed to serve as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly, representing the 22nd Legislative District. This district comprises Union, Middlesex, and Somerset Counties.
• Her appointment filled the vacancy left by the late Assemblyman Gerald B. Green.
• In a special election held on November 6, 2018, Assemblywoman Linda Carter was elected to fill the unexpired term.
• Currently, she serves as the Chair of the Higher Education Committee and Vice Chair of the Transportation and Independent Authorities.
• Additionally, she is an active member of the New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus.

Education:

• Linda graduated from the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
• She furthered her education by obtaining a Master of Science degree in Management, specializing in Information Management from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken.
