Deon T. Tedder, an American attorney and politician, is a dedicated advocate for the underserved. Born on April 26, 1990, in Durham, North Carolina, he has devoted his life to public service.

Education:

• B.A. from South Carolina State University (2012)
• J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law (2015)

Political Career:

• In 2020, Tedder won the Democratic Primary and went on to serve in the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 109 until 2024.
• During his time in the House, he supported historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and championed clean energy and electric vehicle technology.
• Tedder opposed a bail reform bill, emphasizing the importance of due process.
• He was also a founding member of the Freedom Caucus of South Carolina, distinct from the conservative SC Freedom Caucus.
• In 2023, Tedder ran for the South Carolina Senate District 42 seat, which became vacant after Marlon Kimpson’s appointment to a role in the Biden Administration.
• Endorsed by SC Congressman Jim Clyburn, Tedder won the primary runoff by a narrow margin and secured victory in the special election held on November 7, 2023.
