Mike Hoyt grew up in Norwich, VT and attended UVM and Vanderbilt University Law School. He has worked as an attorney for the Vermont Legislature and the Vermont Department of Labor. He currently works at Dartmouth College. Mike was elected to the Hartford Selectboard in 2021 and is currently Vice-Chair of the Selectboard, having served as Chair the three years prior. Mike and is wife, Natalie, live in West Hartford, VT. They enjoy cooking, traveling, and visiting their many nieces and nephews in Trinidad and Tobago.

Michael Hoyt was appointed to the Vermont House of Representatives by Governor Phil Scott to fill the vacancy left by Heather Surprenant, who resigned in September 2025.
