He represented Florida’s 16th congressional district from 2009 to 2013 and Florida’s 17th congressional district from 2013 to 2019. He is a member of the Republican Party. Rooney announced in February 2018 that he would retire from Congress and would not seek re-election in 2018. He serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association.
